About Funamu

Want it. Get it. Funamu is a Ugandan marketplace that brings customers, merchants, Delivery Partners and PUDO Partners together in one place, so that what you need, from a shop near you or in another Funamu city, reaches you safely.

Who we are

Funamu is built and run by DOBOKAKA UG LTD, a Ugandan technology company. We started Funamu to make it easy to buy from real local businesses online, and to give those businesses a simple digital way to reach more customers.

Our vision is to grow digital commerce in Uganda by connecting customers, merchants and delivery providers through an accessible, trustworthy platform.

One marketplace, four kinds of people

  • Customers

    Chat with Funamu AI or browse to find what you need from merchants near you and in other Funamu cities, pay with mobile money, and get it delivered to your door or collect it at a PUDO.

  • Merchants

    Shops, restaurants and businesses list their products, take orders and reach customers near them and in other Funamu cities, without building their own delivery.

  • Delivery Partners

    Independent riders and delivery companies collect orders from merchants and PUDOs and bring them to customers, in their city and between Funamu cities.

  • PUDO Partners

    Pick-up and drop-off points where parcels are handed in, stored safely and collected, so a customer can pick up an order at a time that suits them.

Funamu works through its apps for customers, merchants, Delivery Partners and PUDO Partners, and a Funamu operations team that looks after each city. Payments are made with MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money.

What we stand for

  • Your money is safe until you have your order

    When you pay, Funamu holds the payment. The merchant is paid only after the order has been handed over to you and confirmed with your PIN. If something goes wrong, refunds follow clear, written rules.

  • Every handover is confirmed by a PIN

    Every time a parcel changes hands, from the merchant to a Delivery Partner, to a PUDO, and finally to you, the person receiving it reads a PIN from their app and the person handing it over enters it. The time and, where the phone allows, the place are recorded.

  • Funamu AI works for you

    Funamu AI is your shopping assistant, not a merchant's. It never hides a cheaper or better option, never pushes you to buy, and a product marked Sponsored is always shown as Sponsored.

  • The merchant's price is the price

    Funamu does not mark up a merchant's price. You see the delivery cost before you confirm your order.

  • Your data is yours

    Your account is tied to your own verified email address. We use your information to run your orders and keep the platform safe, and you can ask to see or delete it.

  • Help when you need it

    The Help Center in every app answers common questions, and Funamu Support can step into an order chat to sort out a problem with the merchant or the delivery.

Where we work

Funamu operates in Uganda and opens city by city. In each city we work with local merchants, Delivery Partners and PUDO Partners, and parcels can travel between Funamu cities, so you can also order from a merchant in another Funamu city.
